Diotima masterclasses for young quartets and composers
06/2015 Time of Music – FI
Time of Music 2015 will invite Diotima Quartet for several masterclasses and concerts from 3Oth June to 5th July.
On the one hand, the quartet will continue the work with young composers, develop and perform again the piece created by young composer Núria Giménez Comas during the Composition sessions at Royaumont in 2014, with the technical support from IRCAM for the electronic parts of the pieces. Other young composers will join and develop pieces for string quartet under the tutorship of Brian Ferneyhough.
Young composers working with Quatuor Diotima are presented in a concert on Sunday 5th July 2015 at Viitasaari Parish Hall.
The composers and works are:
Anahita Abbasi (Iran) – Distorted Attitudes IV, “Facile Synthesis”
Haukur Þór Harðarson (Iceland) – Thought the whole fabric of my being

Quatuor Diotima
Founded by graduates of the Paris and Lyon conservatoires, the quartet
takes its name from Luigi Nono’s Fragmente-Stille, an Diotima, thus
affirming its commitment to the music of our time. Ever since its
formation, the quartet has made international appearances which have
taken it to most of the major European festivals and concert series,
is a favoured partner of many composers (including Helmut Lachenmann,
Pierre Boulez, Brian Ferneyhough, and Toshio Hosokawa), and regularlycommissions new pieces from composers.
