IEMA – composition workshop – World Premieres
09/2012 Royaumont foundation – FR
The IEMA-Ensemble includes 15 young musicians, one sound designer, a conductor and two composers in residence (2011/12 : Birke Bertelsmeier, Martin Güttler). These two composers and two composers recommended by Royaumont (Clara Iannotta and Gabriele Vanoni) had the opportunity to create new pieces in two steps: the first period explores the concepts of “try-pout” and “input” under the guidance of the experienced members of Ensemble Modern, the second period contains the rehearsals and concerts.
Some photos taken during the rehearsals:
On 5th September 2012 , a schoolclass of 33 pupil (12-13 years old) was invited to attend one of the rehearsals. A discussion with the young composers has been organised.
Pieces have then been premiered at Royaumont foundation on 9th September 2012.
