OPUS XXI
International Summer Academy for Contemporary Music
Schloss Salem, Salem/Germany
August 13th to 23rd 2014
The Summer Academy Opus XXI 2014 will take place from august 13th to 23rd 2014 and provides an open space that facilitates experimentation, improvisation and encounter with different aesthetics. Young qualified postgraduate composers and instrumentalists can immerse themselves in contemporary music, ensemble repertoire and fundamentals of improvisation. Opus XXI takes place in the famous castle of Salem, surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Lake Constance in the south western part of Germany. The students are working together with the dutch „composer in residence“ Michel van der Aa and the experienced french „Ensemble in residence“ Instant Donné. The daily workshops and rehearsals are complemented by lectures in improvisation, composition masterclass, analysis and mind training.
In addition to discovering and to practising the repertoire the academy allows musicians the close cooperation with composers of different generations, cultural backgrounds and various aesthetics.
The OPUS XXI academy is supported by:
Allianz Kulturstiftung,
deutsch-französisches Jugendwerk,
deutsch-französischer Fonds für zeitgenössische Musik – Impuls,
