IEMA composition workshop 2014

The IEMA-Ensemble 2013/14 includes 11 musicians, as well as a composer (Diego Ramos Rodriguez).
The IEMA composer, together with another composer recommended by IEMA and 2 composers recommended by Gaudeamus Muziekweek get the opportunity to create world premieres.
The selected composers are
Diego Ramos Rodriguez – scholarship 2013/2014 composer IEMA
Daniel Moreira – recommended by IEMA
Trevor Grahl – recommended by Gaudeamus
Orestis Goumenos – recommended by Gaudeamus
They will work in several steps with the IEMA-Ensemble:
Period 1: The composers will come for 2 days to Frankfurt (5th and 6thMay 2014), getting known to the IEMA-Ensemble, every composer gets time for try-outs with the Ensemble. Members of Ensemble Modern will coach these rehearsals and will provide instrumental workshops to the composers. (Please find some photos from the first try-out period with Lucas Vis and Elena Schwarz below).
Period 2: Until midth of July the composers will provide scores and parts of their new pieces. The IEMA-Ensemble starts rehearsing on these pieces in August, all composers will be present.
Main rehearsals will then be organized as well as final concerts with all composers in Germany and in the Netherlands :
September 2014 – Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Utrecht (NL)
September 2014 – during the „Quantensprünge“ Festival some pieces will be presented at the ZKM Karlsruhe (DE)
September 2014 – some of the pieces will be presented in Frankfurt at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst (DE)
